There is no lack of evidence to support the health benefits of exercise. Some include healthy weight management. Reduce your risk of heart disease. Help your body manage blood sugar and insulin levels. Help you quit smoking. Help improve your mental health and mood. Just to name a few.
Cycling has unique benefits. It is a low impact sport that causes less strain and injuries. It can be a great muscle workout using all your major muscle groups. You are able to increase the intensity as much as you want. It’s a fun way to get fit. The adventure and buzz you get from coasting down hills or climbing them. It's so much fun to enjoy the scenery as well.
Bike riding is mainly an aerobic activity which means that your heart, blood vessels and lungs all get a workout. You will breathe deeper and increase your body temperature causing you to sweat out impurities. Cycling will improve your overall fitness level. According to the Australian government cycling improves strength balance and coordination.
While in your car be sure to share the road with cyclist. While on your bike make sure to follow the laws. Ride in the same direction as traffic. Always slow down and look for cars backing out of driveway is or turning. ALWAYS wear a helmet and add safety lights for extra visibility.
